On Thursday, August 8th, Pilmhor had the honor of hosting a very special guest: Mr. Alfredo Félix Blanco. He toured our industrial plant and met with members of the company’s current board of directors.
For those of us at Pilmhor, it was a significant and exciting meeting. Alfredo Blanco was one of the first people to believe in our founders’ vision 47 years ago when they set out to develop Latin America’s first reversible orbital hydraulic motor. He made this dream a reality by approving a loan through the then Institute of Industrial Promotion (IIP) of the Province of Córdoba. With these funds, Pilmhor acquired its first machines and hired the operators to run them. This support proved to be a cornerstone of our journey, enabling us to grow, expand, and innovate in new products and markets.
In the mid-1970s, shortly after graduating with a degree in Economics from the National University of Córdoba (NUC), Alfredo Blanco served as the technical secretary of the IIP. In this role, he was responsible for designing and implementing a line of credits aimed at promoting Córdoba’s industry. Throughout his extensive and prolific career, he also taught at national and international universities, served as dean of the School of Economic Sciences at the NUC, acted as an economic advisor in the private sector, and held positions as Secretary of Government for the Municipality of Córdoba, President of the City Council, and provincial senator and deputy, among many other roles.
During his visit, he engaged in an extensive dialogue with Carlos Papis—one of our founding partners—and members of Pilmhor’s current board of directors, led by its president, Christian Cavallo. Visiting the company’s facilities, Blanco recalled “that strong drive to get things done” and the “enormous technical knowledge” possessed by Pilmhor’s pioneers. “We met with Papis, Calloni, and Giovanetti many times before the loan was approved. Each project had its particularities, but in this case, the technical sophistication of the product—the orbital hydraulic motor—and their deep understanding of the technology were evident. They also dominated the industry, having worked at Venturi, Capeta, and Rodríguez,” Blanco recalled. “In those days, they weren’t called that, but they were ‘entrepreneurs,’ with technical skills, market knowledge, and a strong work ethic,” he summarized.
Pilmhor would like to express its gratitude for the visit and the exchange with Mr. Alfredo Blanco. This reunion has renewed our commitment to growth and innovation, grounded in the quality of our products and services, which have been fundamental pillars of our history.
